Revision with unchanged content. Often, expensive software packages are implemented in multiple countries without attention to differences between national cultures or types of infor mation systems (IS), and how each relates to IS success. Hence, it is im portant to manage such implementations effectively. Companies are spen ding billions of dollars on IT. Total annual worldwide expenditure on IT exceeds two trillion dollars and is growing. Compound the monetary expen ditures with the fact that the majority of IT projects do not fare well, the global economy is forcing firms to even more complex IT solutions, the reliance on technology to sustain competitive advantage; and one can understand why it is vital that companies understand the dimensions of information systems success. One cannot be successful ensuring IS success within the firm if one does not truly understand what one is trying to ensure. Multinationals are highly dependent on successful IS implementations to aid in the delivery of goods, services, and strategic advantage as they extend their reach outside of their natural bor ders in an effort to grow or capitalize on international markets.
