Eugen Ruge, geboren 1954 in Sosswa am Ural, studierte Mathematik in Ostberlin und wurde wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter am Zentralinstitut für Physik der Erde. Bereits 1986 begann er mit seiner schriftstellerischen Tätigkeit. Seit 1989 wirkt er hauptsächlich als Autor für Theater, Funk und Film. Neben seinen Übersetzungen mehrerer Tschechow-Texte und der Autorentätigkeit für Dokumentarfilme und Theaterstücke lehrte er zeitweise in Berlin und Weimar, bevor er 1988 aus der DDR in den Westen ging.
