The history of Black Mountain College represents a significant moment in American artistic, educational, and social reform. The school is predominantly known today as an experimental community where the talents of artists such as Charles Olson, John Cage, Josef Albers, and Robert Creeley thrived. However, those affiliated with Black Mountain College transformed race relations, sexual politics, and higher education in an equally powerful way. This publication explores such unmentioned innovators of American culture and practices.
Brian received his B.A., with honors, in History from Duke University, where he was an Undergraduate Writing Fellow, served as Secretary of his class, and earned Duke s Campus Leader of the Year award. Subsequently, earned his J.D., with honors, from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law in 2010. This is his senior thesis.
