There has been an explosive growth of internet usage worldwide and this is expected to continue with its use becoming an integral part of everyday life. The internet provides tremendous educational benefits including access to information across a wide variety of topics, establishing educational links and enhancing communication with teachers and classmates. However, excessive internet use can lead to negative outcomes such as poor school performance, social isolation, and depression. This book reviews the previous studies done in the field of internet addiction and contains a study done on group of adolescents, studying the prevalence of internet addiction and the factors that could be associated with internet addiction among the them.
Mashhor Al-hantoushi is a consultant family physician in ministry of health, Saudi Arabia. He is interested in internet addiction research. He graduated in 2004 from King Saud University School of Medicine, followed by Saudi board and Arab board of family medicine in 2010. Currently he is a trainer in Saudi board of family medicine.
