Based on the proven funnel model , this book illustrates how companies can use manufacturing control to improve on-time delivery, reduce inventories and cut down throughput times. It details numerous control techniques from Kanban to CONWIP to Backlog Control.
Introduction.- Part A: Fundamentals of Manufacturing Control.- Part B: Methods for Generating Orders.- Part C: Methods for Releasing Orders.- Part D: Sequencing.- Part E: Controlling Capacities.- Part F: Configuring the Manufacturing Control.
"This book distinguishes itself with its convincing systematic approach based on thorough international research. Its clear presentation and direct applicability for analysing and configuring the manufacturing control make this handbook an outstanding and unique publication on PPC."

Hans-Peter Wiendahl

"The field of manufacturing control is very convincingly reviewed and presented from a theoretical and methodological perspective. Both researchers as well as practitioners will profit from it."

Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Hermann Lödding studied Industrial Engineering & Management at the University of Kaiserslautern. He completed his PhD thesis at the renowned Institute of Production Systems and Logistics in Hannover. Holding a research grant from the German Research Foundation, he then went to ETH Zürich (Switzerland), the University of SÆo Paulo (Brazil) and the Hong Kong University of Science & Technology (China) to gain international expertise in manufacturing control and to write his habilitation thesis.

Following that, Lödding immersed himself in the industrial practice when he joined Robert Bosch GmbH for five years, heading production planning & control in the supplier´s lead plant in Bamberg. Since 2009, he has been appointed both as a professor for production management at the Hamburg University of Technology as well as director of the university´s Institute of Production Management & Technology.
