Bu¤uels filmisches Meisterwerk als Inspiration für die Kunst der Gegenwart. Surrealismus reloaded!

Mit seinem Film L´ ¶ge d´or, uraufgeführt am 29. November 1930, traf Luis Bu¤uel einen Nerv: Er entfaltete gesellschaftliche Wirksamkeit mit radikalen, teils skandalträchtigen Mitteln. 50 Jahre lang verboten, hat Bu¤uels frühes surrealistisches Meisterwerk bis heute großen Einfluss auf das künstlerische Medium Film. L´ ¶ge d´or folgt dem Konstruktionsprinzip eines Cadavre Exquis und besteht aus sechs einzelnen, miteinander verbundenen Sequenzen.

Dieser Form folgt Der Stachel des Skorpions mit eigenwilligen Neuinterpretationen von Bu¤uels Episoden durch die internationalen GegenwartskünstlerInnen John Bock, Chicks on Speed, Keren Cytter, M + M, Julian Rosefeldt und Tobias Zielony. Die eigens für das Gemeinschaftsprojekt geschaffenen Arbeiten sind radikale Neuschöpfungen, wie sich an den umfangreichen Bildstrecken und originalen Filmmanuskripten in der Publikation ablesen lässt.

When Luis Bu¤uels L ¶ge dor was premiered on November 29, 1930, it hit a raw nerve, having a potent effect on the audience through its radical and sometimes scandalous imagery. Banned for fifty years, Bu¤uels early Surrealist masterpiece continues to exert an enormous influence on the artistic medium of film. L ¶ge dor is based on the structure of the Surrealist game of the cadavre exquis and consists of six individual, linked sequences. Following this format, The Scorpions Sting presents original reinterpretations of these episodes by the international contemporary artists John Bock, Chicks on Speed, Keren Cytter, M + M, Julian Rosefeldt, and Tobias Zielony. Created specifically for this joint project, their works are radical creations, documented by extensive illustrations and original film scripts included in the publication.
