Ground water is one of the most important source of fresh water today´s world. This source of water widely used in agriculture as because of crop intensification for more production to feed the enlarged people and also utilized in industry and human purposes as well. For wider use of ground water, its level is lowering day by day as a result create direct threats to agriculture to be reduced crop production, arable land and affect on irrigation systems. Now at this moment, sustainable use of ground water is essential to face the future threat. So, management of ground water is important to overcome this situation. Climate change threat to fresh surface water as like as ground water by impacting on quality parameter of the water thus leads to the environmental degradation. The study showed the ground water level fluctuation and its impact on irrigation at Jessore of Bangladesh. There are many limitations but the small endeavors may lead to thinking of sustainable use of ground water.
G. M. Abdur Rahman is the Agricultural Engineer of the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) in Bangladesh. He acquired M. Sc. in Civil Engineering, Master of Development Studies (MDS) and B. Sc. in Agricultural Engineering. He has many research articles. In addition to writing scholarly publication, he enjoys roaming and writing as a hobby.
