Serials constitute a major part of all university libraries´ collections and typically account for more than half of their expenditure on library resources. For effective access to and use of serials, proper management is essential. It is generally acknowledged that serials play important role in research. The generation, dissemination and applications of research output and findings are the basis for industrial innovations and improved productivity and competitiveness at the organisational, societal and national levels. This book focuses on the elements of serials management in the libraries. It addresses the extent to which serials are accessed and used. It also appraises the influence of serials management, access to serials and use of serials on publications output of lecturers in universities. Very few studies have been carried out on the comprehensive management of serials and the influence of serials management, access and use on publications output of lecturers in universities. The author, Rahmon O. Onaolapo Akinbode is a professional and practicing librarian. He is currently working in the University Library, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Nigeria. He holds B.A. (Hons) History, MLS and Ph.D in Library, Archival and Information Studies. He is a Chartered Librarian. He has several other publications to his credit.
