The psychosocial care of children and adolescents exhibiting school refusal behaviour aims at improving their mental health and preventing drop-outs over the long term - a task that mandates constructive cooperation across various disciplines. The contributions from those different fields presented in this volume reflect the interdisciplinary approach adopted in the psychosocial care of truant children and adolescents. The building blocks of awareness and prevention, early detection, diagnosis and intervention, as well as educational and professional integration are examined from the different perspectives of youth welfare, medicine, police, psychology, special-needs education and school.
