The medical technology sector is a well-established pillar within the healthcare industry
in Germany and one of the major drivers of the country´s export-driven economic
growth. Although the environment will become more challenging overall,
particularly where the regulatory side is concerned, German companies have shown
constant growth and increasing turnover. One reason for this is that the German
medical technology sector has its own combination of tradition and inventiveness,
resulting in continuous development of innovative medical products and new beneficial
services. Another of the sector´s drivers is its ability to cross-link with the pharma,
biotech, IT and manufacturing sectors. These industries are discovering the digital
opportunities of e-health, the combination of drugs with medical devices, and the
many other synergies that arise when service providers and manufacturers in the life
sciences offer their processes and products to all players in the healthcare sector.
This clearly shows that the different intersections of the German healthcare industry
are already closely connected. With the third edition of our "Guide to German
Medtech Companies", BIOCOM AG follows this development, highlighting the impressive
diversity of the German medical technology sector. The Guide offers a broad
picture of different companies - from medical device developers to manufacturers,
service providers, and organisations. In addition, the most recent developments in
the German medtech sector are summarised in the introduction.
The Guide to German Medtech Companies is supported by our partners Germany
Trade & Invest, BVMed e.V., Medical Valley EMN e.V., Life Science Nord, Cluster
InnovativeMedicine.NRW, Medical Mountains, SPECTARIS, Forum MedTech Pharma
and VDMA. These national organisations and regional networks are important stakeholders,
helping to establish further growth of "Medtech made in Germany" by providing
the right environment for traditional family-owned firms, global players, startups,
technological forerunners, manufacturers, suppliers, and service providers.
As this book will be distributed across several international medtech events in
Europe and overseas, it will hopefully play its part in strengthening the visibility of
German medical technology companies on an international level. Distribution is
further supported by logistics specialist UPS. In addition, the publication is now
also available for free via our BIOCOM AG app. Either as electronic version or as
printed copy, it will surely become a must-have on the desk of every professional
in the rapidly developing field of the German heathcare industry.
