It is a book on the Health System in Bangladesh - its characteristics and recent changes. The Financing o the Health System is discussed and its resource scarcity outlined. It also examines the Mental Health System in South Asia identifying its resource scarcity and neglect. All the countries in South Asia including India, Pakistan, Nepal, Maldives, Bhutan have been covered. It also examines the recent upsurge in Non-communicable diseases in Bangladesh as it goes through a demographic as well as epidemiological transition. Population Growth, Urbanization and Ageing of the Population in Bangladesh has been critically assessed and its implications discussed. The drawbacks of the Health Care System in effectively addressing issues related to the ageing of the population in Bangladesh received particular emphasis. In short, it is a critical assessment of the Health System in Bangladesh in the context of the recent demographic and epidemiological transition that the country is undergoing.
