Die vier Sonatinen op. 88 entstanden 1827, also in Friedrich Kuhlaus mittlerer Schaffenszeit, noch vor dem großen Erfolg der Oper "Elfenhügel" - im Todesjahr Beethovens. Alle vier Werke enthalten schöne melodische Einfälle, doch stellt die hier herausgegebene Sonatine op. 88 Nr. 3 mit ihrer Moll-Tonalität, ihrem freien Umgang mit Form und Tempo im Kopfsatz und mit dem spritzigen Schlusssatz etwas Besonderes dar. Im mittleren Schwierigkeitsgrad gehalten, bietet diese Sonatine viel Freude beim Spielen.
Die Ausgabe wird von einem Vorwort und "Hinweisen für den Unterricht" von Monika Twelsiek begleitet. The four Sonatinas Op. 88 were written in 1827, i. e. during Friedrich Kuhlau´s middle creative period, even before the great success of the opera "Elfenhügel", the year of Beethoven´s death. All four works contain beautiful melodic ideas, but Sonatina Op. 88 No. 3 with its minor tonality, its free treatment of form and tempo in the first movement and the lively last movement is something special. Of medium difficulty, this sonatina is great fun to play.
